The Head of the Chechen republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, expressed an interest in manufacturing a Chechen car that he would like to call “Vord”, the official website of the Chechen government reports.

Kadyrov noted that the price of such a car should be affordable to the population, have minimal fuel consumption and be adaptable to various spheres of the economy. “Although we do not have the facilities to produce 'e-mobiles', nevertheless the quality of our cars will be just as good as the top global brands”, Kadyrov joked.

Chechen Minister of Industry and Energy Galas Taymaskhanov said “A platform for the construction of the local car “Vord” has already been prepared. We have come to an agreement with an English firm which builds cars for city municipal services. We are sure that such cars under a Chechen brand will stand out in the marketplace.”

The site also reports that Taymaskhanov announced the Argun factory “Chechennavto” plans to produce 5000 “Lada Priora” cars this year alone, aiming at 50,000 cars in total. They are also planning “to produce various components for the new car, such as air and oil filters, exhausts, brake pads and more,” he added.

“If last year all our restored enterprises produced products worth 600 million rubles, then we are currently planning to increase this figure by almost three times.”

Kadyrov has suggested ten days to consider a number of projects which could be started in the near future. Moreover, he wishes to see the construction documents and possible indicators of the profit these industries could provide.
