Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has instructed the Ministry of Justice to prepare a report by March 15 on why opposition organization the People’s Freedom Party (abbreviated in Russian as Parnas), was denied official registration, the Kremlin said on Monday.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has instructed the Ministry of Justice to prepare a report by March 15 on why opposition organization the People’s Freedom Party (abbreviated in Russian as Parnas), was denied official registration, the Kremlin said on Monday.

Opposition leaders Boris Nemtsov, Mikhail Kasyanov, Vladimir Ryzhkov and Vladimir Milov set up Parnas in 2010. The Justice Ministry had cited numerous mistakes in the party’s charter and other procedural violations for the denial of registration. In particular, the list of party members in some regions included minors, the deceased and citizens who were not registered at the stated address.

“The Russian Justice Ministry must prepare information on why the People’s Freedom Party was denied registration,” Medvedev’s instruction said.
