Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office in a report issued on Saturday said it has exposed about 3,000 violations committed during the recent parliamentary and presidential polls.

Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office in a report issued on Saturday said it has exposed about 3,000 violations committed during the recent parliamentary and presidential polls.

Following the investigation, 95 people have been charged with committing administrative offenses, two criminal cases have been opened, and 700 warnings have been issued, prosecutors said. The report stated that the uncovered abuses did not seriously affect the voting process and the outcome of the polls.

The preliminary version of the report was handed to President Dmitry Medvedev in January 2012. It is expected that Russia’s Prosecutor General Yury Chaika will publicly present the report.

"Most of the abuses were related to violations of the rules of forming a district election commission, drawing up voter lists, the selection of places for printed material, and the funding, as well as the procedure of running the election campaign," the report said.
