A streetcar has derailed in downtown Moscow’s Komsomolskaya Square due to freezing rain, a law enforcement source said.

“A streetcar following route 45 derailed on Tuesday evening because of freezing rain in the Russian capital,” the source said. “No one was injured in the incident.”

The source said a tractor-trailer was sent for to put the streetcar back on the rails.

Moscow was hit with freezing rain during the afternoon on Tuesday.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev's plane was forced to land in St. Petersburg instead of its destination of Moscow on Tuesday evening because of severe weather conditions in the country's capital, his spokeswoman Natalya Timakova said.

There were also reports of car accidents in Moscow due to bad weather on Tuesday.
