MOSCOW, May 14 (RIA Novosti) - The spring weather in Moscow broke a 27-year record on May 14, hitting 28.7 degrees Celsius (83.7 degrees Fahrenheit), an expert with the Fobos weather center said.
The air temperature is 0.3 degrees Celsius above the previous record set in 1986.
“The weather has set a new record, but air temperatures are continuing to rise further,” she said.
The record-setting heat wave began in Moscow last week and is due to last until next week.
The 1883 record of 28.6 degrees Celsius (83.5 degrees Fahrenheit) was nearly topped on Monday, with maximum temperature of 28.4 degrees Celsius registered.
