RUSSIAN SCIENTISTS TRY TO DEFEAT DEATH

Subscribe
MOSCOW, April 26 (RIA Novosti) - A Moscow State University team of biologists led by Academician Vladimir Skulachov consider that aging can and should be cancelled. By defeating man's aging one can defeat the lion's share of heart attacks, strokes and other diseases that become far more probable as we grow old, the Moskovsky Komsomolets daily writes on Tuesday.

There is proof that there exist genes preprogramming the death of cells. Russian biologists are in search of substances to cancel the aging program. Moscow State University has launched experiments to test them on cells. At the same time, Professor Anisimov runs similar tests on mice at the St. Petersburg institute of oncology.

The first results have been produced in one of the fields. According to Vladimir Skulachov, the aging program involves poisonous oxygen types that accumulate on intracellular organellas - mitochondria - and poison the body ever more as it grows old. Subjected to substances removing the poison, cells transform and start looking as brand-new ones.

If man's death is preprogrammed indeed, it will be cancelled eventually, and this will have a truly fantastic impact.
