PARIS, June 16 (RIA Novosti's Alexander Kovalev) - Russo-American space cooperation is not limited to the construction of the International Space Station. They also work jointly on space exploration programs and launch spacecraft, said Anatoly Perminov, head of the Russian Space Agency (Roskosmos).

"Apart from the ISS, Russia and the U.S. have joint long-term programs of space exploration, the study of planets of the Solar System, and research into, creation and launching of civilian spacecraft and satellites," he said.

Perminov said that international cooperation in space exploration is expanding. "No country, even such a powerful one as the U.S., can do without partner relations with the world community, let alone Russia," he said. "Our specialists have been working long and successfully in many areas."

Apart from joint space research, Russia also orbits American telecommunications satellites on commercial conditions.

The orbiting of Russian-made heavy carrier rockets Proton with American satellites for broadcasting to the U.S. and other countries, including Russia, is another example of mutually beneficial Russia-U.S. partnership.
