Military and civilian space programs have equal financing
16:32 14/07/2005
MOSCOW, July 14 (RIA Novosti) - The classified military space program and the civilian program receive the same amount of funding, said Anatoly Perminov, head of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), Thursday.
"The military program is not part of the federal space program, as it is being worked out in line with an armaments program and has not been approved yet," Perminov said.
Perminov did not give any figures.
"I believe equal amounts will be allocated to both of them," he said.
The figure of 305 billion rubles, or $11 billion, for 10 years is being discussed at a government meeting Thursday and is the minimum required for the program to be implemented.
In 1989, the Soviet government allocated $3,280,000,000, 8 times as much, to the space program.
