TEL AVIV, September 8 (RIA Novosti) - Israeli scientists have proposed several nanotechnology projects for the Russian Rosnanotech state corporation, an Israeli scientist and businessman said Monday.

Last week, Rosnanotech general director Leonid Melamed and managing director Dmitry Lisenkov visited Israeli educational, scientific and technical centers and met with Israeli officials to identify investment projects for Russia.

Four of the projects were of particular interest to the investors, Oleg Figovsky said, identifying the potential of nanoarmoring in the mining industry, nanocellulose, research in separation and high-quality technologies in gold-plating.

In 2007, the Russian government allocated 130 billion rubles (about $5.5 billion) to Rosnanotech, which is aiming to build infrastructure in Russia for nanotechnology projects by providing the right research conditions.

One of the conditions set by Rosnanotech is that part of any project should operate in Russia.

During his visit to Israel, Melamed said that Israel could become a strategic partner for Russia in developing nanotechnology projects.
