Belarus Releases ‘Own’ iPad Killer
MOSCOW, April 26 (RIA Novosti)
Gorizont, the largest electronics manufacturer in Belarus, has unveiled its own tablet PC operating on the Android 2.2 and 2.3 platforms, Newsru.com web portal said on Thursday.
The device was for the first time showcased at the TIBO-2012 exhibition in Minsk. It is unknown when the gadget will go on sale and how much it will cost.
Belarusian journalists said exhibition organizers did not allow visitors to touch the display tablets, let alone switch them on.
The website of Russkaya Sluzhba Novostei radio said Gorizont is passing off a no-name Chinese model as its own development.
Internet stores sell the tablet PCs, sometimes under the brandname Superpad or FlyTouch-3, for about $180 each, shipping included, the radio’s correspondent Vladimir Chudentsov said, citing a Google search.
It is common practice for Chinese electronics manufacturers to allow buyers to place their own logos on the gadgets they acquire.
