VICTORY TRAIN TO LEAVE FOR MOSCOW

MOSCOW, MAY 5, (RIA Novosti) - The Victory Train - 2005 international event, which is devoted to the 60th VE-Day anniversary, will begin May 5 in Brest, Belarus. Brest is located on the Belarussian-Polish border.

Talking to RIA Novosti here today, officials at the Belarussian Embassy in Moscow noted that this event wouldl involve Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov, who suggested organizing it.

The Victory Train will travel along the Brest - Moscow route, stopping in Baranovichi, Minsk, Orsha, Gagarin and Smolensk. This WWII-style train will consist of 20 cars and flatcars.

The forthcoming event symbolizes the return of victorious Soviet soldiers to their homeland. The train will be formed in Brest, with representatives of the Moscow government's delegation, as well as Belarussian and Russian war veterans, being its passengers.
