MOSCOW, August 22 (RIA Novosti) - Joint consultations on migration issues between the EU, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Russia, Afghanistan and Pakistan opened Monday, focusing on labor migration, security and efforts to fight human trafficking.
The meeting, the third in the series, will complete the International Organization for Migration's program, which envisions migration cooperation.
According to the IOM, up to 1.7 million emigres from Central Asia live in Russia and the country could be harboring up to 10 million illegal migrants.
State border development and information support for migration control are also scheduled to be discussed.
The materials and recommendations of the conference will be used to improve migration policies.
