Moscow, September 30 (RIA Novosti) - There are about 180,000 web-sites on Runet, the Russian Internet domain, the head of the Russian Federal Agency for Print and Mass Media said Friday.
"This is a gigantic amount," Mikhail Seslavinsky told a new conference in Moscow. He said that the about 400,000 domains registered in the Russian segment of the Internet were a huge resource for developing Runet.
Seslavinsky also said the number of Internet users in the country had grown by 35% to 15-17 million people last year and that 30% of users were students.
The 19,000 educational and scientific Web sites in Russia account for 11% of the total figure, a large amount, he said.
