Opinion poll says only 31% of Russians use Internet
According to the poll by VTsIOM, the 69% figure represents a seven-percentage-point drop from the 76% of the population who did not use the internet in 2006. The survey shows that 11% of Russians use the Internet every day, more than twice as many as two years ago.
The poll also says the popularity of the Internet has doubled in the last three years. In 2005, only 10% used the Internet as an information source, while this year the figure has reached 20%.
Russia celebrates the day of the Russian-language Internet - the Runet - on Tuesday.
The opinion poll was conducted on September 20-21 in a total of 42 regions with a sample of 1,600 respondents and a 3.4% margin of error.
