Thousands of trucks are stuck in a 100-km (75-mile) traffic jam on the Beijing-Tibet highway.
The jam started near the Chinese capital on Tuesday. More than 10,000 vehicles, many of them trucks carrying coal, are now snarled up in the northeast region of Inner Mongolia.
The coal trucks are also blocking feeder roads, national TV reported.
A similar 62-mile jam that lasted for nine days was only cleared last week.
