The first gay pride parade in Ukraine planned for May 20 was canceled due to threats against its members, reported Ukrainian news agency UNIAN quoting the organizers.
“Parade of sexual minorities planned for today in the center of Kiev is canceled because of ‘some threats’,” said in the statement.
Participants of gay pride parade planned to walk along the embankment to the historic neighborhood of Kiev, Podol. The event was sanctioned by the city authorities.
Yesterday evening the opponents of gay pride parade in the social networking websites offered “strong men” to prevent the event from taking place.
