Scalpers raise ticket prices for Russia-Canada hockey game in Turin

TURIN, February 22 (RIA Novosti, Sergei Averyanov) - Russian ice hockey fans who have traveled to the Winter Olympics in Turin may only be able to get tickets for tonight's quarterfinal match against Canada from ticket scalpers, at four times the official price.

Illegal ticket re-sellers are offering tickets at around 400 euros, up from the official price of 100-150 euros.

With an average price of 30-60 euros for curling semifinals or 10-20 euros for men's 50 km cross-country skiing event, the high price for the tickets is due to the high popularity of the teams, and to the limited seating at tonight's venue, the Torino Esposizioni pavilion, which seats only 6,400 people.

The encounter between Russia and Canada for a spot in semifinals starts tonight at 10.30 p.m. Moscow time (7.30 p.m. GMT).
