MOSCOW, October 4 (RIA Novosti) - The world's top women tennis players will arrive in Moscow at the weekend for the start of the Kremlin Cup 2006, the Russian tennis federation head said Wednesday.

"The women's draw for the tournament is impressive," Shamil Tarpishchev said, adding that it included world No.1 Amelie Mauresmo of France, and Russia's top player and world No.3 Maria Sharapova.

He said almost all the leading WTA players would take to the courts at the tournament, set for October 8-15, except two injured Belgian stars: Justine Henin-Hardenne and Kim Clijsters.

Apart from this year's U.S. Open winner Sharapova, Svetlana Kuznetsova, herself as winner at Flushing Meadows in 2004, and Yelena Dementyeva, who lost to Kuznetsova in that final, will also represent the elite of Russian tennis.

Tarpishchev said the organizers had awarded two wild cards for the tournament to two other Russians Yelena Bovina and Vera Dushevina. The remaining wild card is set to be announced Thursday, he said, adding that Serena Williams, who has seven Grand Slam titles to her name, was the most likely player to receive it.

The Kremlin Cup 2006 women's prize money totals $1.34 million, with $196,900 for the winner and $105,800 for the runner-up.
