Reports in the English press recently said that Yulia Arshavin had given an interview before Arshavin signed for the club in which she criticized the English way of life, including "dirty and scruffy" Londoners and women who "don't care what they look like."
"Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a glamorous cow," she said.
The 26-year-old also denied speaking to the English press.
"Any normal person would realize that it is not realistic for me, as a person who knows little English, to have given an interview to the English press. I didn't say those things they wrote," she said.
However, as Fontanka pointed out, while she may not have spoken to the English press, the quotes were taken from an interview on her husband's official website in September 2007 after an England-Russia Euro 2008 qualifier in London.
Andrei Arshavin is set to make his Arsenal debut this Saturday against Sunderland.
