MOSCOW, March 24 (RIA Novosti) - Out-of-favor Tottenham Hotspur striker Roman Pavlyuchenko is determined to put his time on the bench to good use in Russia's upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Despite having scored 13 goals in his debut season in England, albeit just four of those coming in the Premier League, the former Spartak Moscow forward has fallen behind Robbie Keane and Darren Bent for a place in the newly resurgent Spurs' attacking line.

"I have an enormous desire to play," Pavlyuchenko told Sport Express. "In the last three games, as you know, I have only been on the pitch for a total of seven minutes, and I have had a chance to rest and build up energy. I now intend to release this."

Russia are four points behind leaders Germany in Group 4 with a game in hand. They face Azerbaijan in Moscow on March 28 and Lichtenstein away from home on April 1.

Pavlyuchenko is joined in the national team by Russia's only other foreign-based player, Arsenal's Andrei Arshavin.

The 27-year-old forward said on Monday that he was hoping the recent emotional stress of his drawn-out move to Arsenal would not affect his performance in the games.

Arshavin finally signed for Arsenal at the beginning of February after over half a year of speculation, rumors and negotiations that the Russian media dubbed the "Arshavin soap opera."

"The last few months have been extremely emotional, and I still haven't completely got over it. I hope this won't affect my performance for the national side," he said.
