© REUTERS/ Thomas BohlenMOSCOW, June 9 (RIA Novosti) - Zenit St. Petersburg trainer Dick Advocaat has said he will not sign a contract to coach the Belgian national side until the Russian season ends in November, a Russian daily reported on Tuesday.
The Dutch coach told Sport Express, however, that he would still be moving to Belgium at the end of his contract with Zenit.
Advocaat said everything had been agreed with the Belgians, and that signing the contract was only a "formality," which would be completed in December. He is to take up the Belgium job in January 2010.
The Dutchman lead Zenit to the Russian league title in 2007 and the UEFA Cup and European Super Cup in 2008, but the team's form has slipped since and last season they only clinched fifth place - the last Russian spot in the 2009/2010 Europa League - by beating Spartak in Moscow on the final day.
Having sold star forward Andrei Arshavin to Arsenal in February, St. Petersburg have struggled away from home this season, losing three and winning just one of six games on the road, leaving them sixth in the Russian Premier League with 18 points after 11 games.
Advocaat's confirmed departure could mean an uncertain season for the club, whose recent success has been funded by Gazprom's millions.
Portuguese star Danny has not found the form that prompted Zenit to pay Dynamo Moscow a Russian record $44 million for the attacking midfielder last August, while captain Anatoly Tymoshchuk joins Bayern Munich on July 1, and striker Pavel Pogrebnyak has been linked to a move abroad, possibly following Arshavin to Arsenal.
Advocaat has wide experience of international football, having previously coached his native Netherlands (twice), South Korea and the United Arab Emirates, as well as Glasgow Rangers in Scotland and Germany's Borussia Monchengladbach.
