MOSCOW, July 17 (RIA Novosti) - Zenit St. Petersburg are speaking to former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson about him taking over the side when Dick Advocaat quits at the end of the year, the Fontanka paper said on Friday.
Citing a club source, Fontanka said that Eriksson, 61, had indicated during preliminary talks that he would be happy working in Russia. He has also been linked with English Premier League side Portsmouth.
Swedish coach Eriksson was sacked in April as manager of the Mexican national team after a 3-1 World Cup qualifier defeat away to Honduras.
Apart from England and Mexico, Eriksson has also managed a host of club sides, including Manchester City and Lazio.
Advocaat is due to leave the 2008 UEFA Cup winners to take over the Belgium national side at the end of the Russian season in November.
