With over a minute of injury time left Russia's Roman Pavlyuchenko hammered a goal against the Welsh team to secure his country's 3-1 victory at the 2010 World Cup qualifier in Cardiff on Wednesday.

MOSCOW, September 10 (RIA Novosti) - With over a minute of injury time left Russia's Roman Pavlyuchenko hammered a goal against the Welsh team to secure his country's 3-1 victory at the 2010 World Cup qualifier in Cardiff on Wednesday.

The Russians, led by Dutch coach Guus Hiddink, opened the score on the 36th minute of the first half after Igor Semshov scored a goal from a pass given by captain Andrei Arshavin.

However, the Welsh began the second half with continued attacks on the Russian side that resulted in a goal delivered by James Collins to bring the score to a draw.

The winner for the Russians was scored by Sergei Ignashevich from a free kick and the score was beefed up in favor of the Hiddink's team by Pavlyuchenko's goal in a three-minute injury time.
