MOSCOW, November 3 (RIA Novosti) - New CSKA trainer Leonid Slutsky is hoping luck is on the Russian club's side when they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening in a Champions League tie.
The match will be Slutsky's second in charge of the former Red Army club. He was appointed coach on October 27, replacing Spanish trainer Juande Ramos. He began his reign with a 1-0 win at home to Terek Grozny at the weekend.
"We are relying on skill, which is something this team has in abundance, and the correct tactics to get a positive result from the match in Manchester," Slutsky told Sport Express. "And we will need some luck as well, something it is hard to do without in football."
CSKA lost 1-0 to the English champions in Moscow two weeks ago, and are in third place in Group B with three points.
"Every game conjures up its own emotions," rumored Manchester United target Igor Akinfeev told the Sovetski Sport paper. "But this one...a legendary stadium and a legendary team. These are the most important matches in a career."
"The fact that my name has been linked to Manchester United recently doesn't add anything," the Russian international goalkeeper went on. "The Akinfeev-Man Utd topic is just on paper, simply words. But the fact that we will have to put in the maximum effort - that's the reality."
The match kicks of at 22:45 Moscow time (18:45 GMT) and will be shown live on Russia's NTV channel.
GROUP B (After 3 games)
Manchester United - 9
Wolfsburg - 4
CSKA Moscow - 3
Besiktas - 1
