CSKA Moscow go into their Group B Champions League tie against Wolfsburg on Wednesday evening knowing that anything less than a win will mean the end of their hopes of progressing to the last 16.
The Russians lost their opening Group B tie 3-1 to Wolfsburg on September 15, and are three points behind the German champions as they seek to make amends in Moscow. They come into the match on the back of a 3-2 win over cross-town rivals Spartak on Saturday.
"Victories like the one against Spartak Moskva at the weekend create a positive atmosphere and make it easier for players to ignore their tiredness. It wasn't going well against Spartak, but we found the power to change the course of the game and even up the tempo," trainer Leonid Slutsky said before the game.
CSKA travel to Turkey to take on bottom club Besiktas on December 8, while Wolfsburg host an already qualified Manchester United in the group's last round of games.
