Hockey player Alexei Morozov will lead the Russian Olympic team into Vancouver's BC Place Stadium as the national flag bearer, the head of the Russian Olympic committee said on Friday.
Morozov led the Russian national team in 2008 and 2009 World Championship finals, when Russia captured both titles playing against Canada. Many hockey fans and experts hope that the teams will meet again in the final of the 2010 Olympics.
"Today the council of coaches decided to name Morozov, one of our best hockey players, our flag bearer," President of the National Olympic Committee Leonid Tyagachov told journalists in Vancouver.
Russia has sent 175 athletes to the Canadian city which will host the Winter Games on February 12-28.
