Germany took its first gold medal in 2010 Olympics Vancouver after Felix Loch won men's luge.

His countryman David Moeller took the silver leaving reigning world champion and two-time Olympic Champion Armin Zoeggeler from Italy with bronze.

Albert Demchenko, the silver medalist of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Italy, finished the track only 0.03 seconds behind Zoeggeler.

Germany is the bookmakers' favorite to take most medals ahead of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Canada
