Russian female athletes won a gold and a silver medal in two 15-km cross-country races during the 2010 Paralympics in Canada on Tuesday.
Anna Burmistrova took the gold in Women's 15 km Free, Standing. Iuliia Batenkova of Ukraine came second, while Katarzyna Rogowiec of Poland was third.
Another Russian athlete, Liubov Vasilyeva came second in Women's 15 km Free, Visually Impaired. She finished 3.5 minutes behind the winner, Verena Bentele of Germany. Yadviha Skorabahataya of Belarus took the bronze.
With a total of 15 medals, including six gold and six silver, Russia has a solid lead in the unofficial medal count. Its closest rival, Ukraine, has seven medals, including two gold.
