Germany's Wolfsburg has beaten Russia's Rubin 2-1 in a struggle for a place in the Europa League quarterfinals at Volkswagen Arena.

Germany's Wolfsburg has beaten Russia's Rubin 2-1 in a struggle for a place in the Europa League quarterfinals at Volkswagen Arena.

Rubin's Alan Kasaev scored a goal for the Russian team on the 21st minute, but Wolfsburg's Obafemi Martins tied the score on the 58th by an early second half strike.

Wolfsburg secured the victory after Christian Gentner scored the second goal for the Germans on the last minute of extra-time.

Rubin and Wolfsburg tied the score at 1-1 in their first Europa League meeting in Russia's Kazan.

Besides Wolfsburg, Germany's Hamburg, Britain's Fulham and Liverpool, Portugal's Benfica, Spain's Valencia and Atletico, as well as Belgium's Standard, also made it into the Europa League quarterfinals.
