Zenit St. Petersburg playmaker Danny is urging his team to transfer the club's imperious league form to Europe in order to beat teams like Porto in their Champions League clash on Wednesday.

The Russian champions host Porto looking to bounce back from a humiliating 2-1 defeat to Cypriot outsiders APOEL in the first Group G match earlier this month. Their Portuguese visitors look to build on a 2-1 defeat of Shakhtar Donetsk in the first round.

Zenit thrashed Tom Tomsk 4-0 on Saturday to maintain their two-point lead in the Russian Premier League, where they have suffered just one defeat in their last 15 matches.

"We played really well against Tom," Danny said. "We have to play the same was against Porto. I'm in good shape, but the main thing now is for all of us to show what we're capable of," added the Portuguese international, who recently signed a four-year contract extension.

The Portuguese champions are also in good domestic form, only denied a win on Friday against bitter rivals Benfica after a late equalizer from Benfica midfielder Nicolas Gaitan made it 2-2. They share the league lead after six matches.

For Wednesday's match, Zenit are without their former Porto defender Bruno Alves, who was sent off in Cyprus and is suspended. Before signing with Zenit, Alves made 119 league appearances for Porto and won four championships.

There is a question mark over the participation of goalkeeper Vyacheslav Malafeyev, who hurt his hip earlier this month in a league match against Rubin Kazan.
