Russia to Play Italy, France in Summer Warm-up Games

Russia will play Italy in a June friendly, a week before Euro 2012 kicks off, the head of the Russian Football Union said Wednesday.

The announcement completes Russia's warm-up schedule for the summer tournament in Ukraine and Poland: They play Denmark in Copenhagen on February 29 before hosting Uruguay in Moscow on May 25. The Russians then travel to Switzerland to play Liechtenstein four days later and Italy on June 1.

After Euro 2012, Russia fly to Paris to play France.

"We promised to announce a strong lineup of matches, and have fulfilled that promise," Sergei Fursenko said on Russian state television.

Russia start their European championships campaign on June 8 against the Czech Republic in Wroclaw before traveling to Warsaw to face co-host Poland on June 12 and Greece four days later.
