Former Formula One drivers Alain Prost and David Coulthard will race on an ice track in Moscow this month, organizers said Monday.
The Race of Stars, an annual ice racing showpiece event in Moscow, will take place February 23 using modified Renault Duster road cars in a series of one-on-one duels building to a final.
French four-time F1 champion Prost is already a proficient ice racer, and has won the French championship three times, including this year’s title, which he won January 30 at the age of 56.
Scottish racer Coulthard, 41, finished third in the Formula One championship with the McLaren team on four occasions, and now races in Germany’s DTM touring car series.
Prost and Coulthard will be joined by 27-year-old Jerome D’Ambrosio, who was dropped by the Marussia Virgin Racing team at the end of last season after a disappointing debut year.
The foreign stars may have a difficult time against Russian ice specialists, however: The Race of Stars has only been won once by a foreign driver, in 1989.
