Russian Wingsuit Jumper Sets New World Record

Superstar Russian climber and base jumper Valery Rozov, 47, has set a new world record by performing a wingsuit jump from the top of a 6,543 meter mountain in the Indian part of the Himalayas, the website of Red Bull said on Wednesday.

Base jumping and wingsuit flying is an extreme sport that involves jumping from objects such as bridges, buildings and towers.

Rozov and his climbing partners Alexander Ruchkin and Victor Volodin, reached the summit of Shivling on May 25 after a six-day climb. It took Rozov 90 seconds to make the trip down in his wingsuit.
