Croatia’s Marin Cilic won the Queen’s Club competition in unusual circumstances Sunday after Argentina’s David Nalbandian was disqualified while leading for an incident in which a line judge was injured.
While 7-6(3), 3-4 in front, Nalbandian kicked out at an advertising hoarding after going a break down in the second set.
The line judge sustained a cut to his shin and Nalbandian was disqualified.
The win was Cilic’s first on grass in an ATP tournament.
Queen’s Club, also known as the AEGON Championships, is seen as one of the major men’s preparation events for Wimbledon and has a prize fund of €625,300.
Elsewhere Sunday, former world No. 2 Tommy Haas defeated Roger Federer 7-6(5), 6-4 to win the Halle tournament in Germany.
