WBA cruiserweight champion Guillermo Jones' mandatory bout against Russia's interim champion Denis Lebedev will take place in Moscow in October, Lebedev's promoter told R-Sport on Thursday.

The agreement means both sides avoid a purse bid, which the WBA had earlier set for Thursday, with a minimum $200,000 purse and Panamanian fighter Jones raking in 55 percent.

"My great respect for [Jones' promoter] Don King did not allow the bidding to happen," Lebedev’s promoter Vlad Hrunov said. "We've reached an agreement and informed the WBA about that."

He added: "The fight will take place in Russia on October 20, hopefully at the CSKA Moscow basketball arena."

Moscow is the only city being considered, Hrunov said, adding that legendary promoter King was set to pay his first visit to the Russian capital in September.

Jones has won 38 of his 43 professional fights, 30 of them by knockout, lost three and drawn two.

The fight would be Lebedev’s second shot at a full title after he lost to German fighter Marco Huck in a bout for the WBO belt in 2010.

Before facing Jones, he will fight Frenchman Jean-Marc Mormeck in Paris on Sunday.

The defeat to Huck is the only mark on an otherwise spotless 25-1 record for the Russian southpaw so far.
