Russian judoka Arsen Galstyan won his country's first Olympic gold medal in London on Saturday, beating Japan's Hiroaki Hiraoka in the 60-kilogram final.

Russian judoka Arsen Galstyan won his country's first Olympic gold medal in London on Saturday, beating Japan's Hiroaki Hiraoka in the 60-kilogram final.

It took the Russian little more than 40 seconds to seal a win by ippon.

The bronze medals went to Uzbekistan's Rishod Sobirov and Brazil's Felipe Kitadai.

In the women's 48 kilogram catergory, the gold medal went to Sarah Menezes of Brazil after she defeated Romania's Alina Dumitru by waza-ari in the final.

The bronze medals went to Charline van Snick of Belgium and Hungary's Eva Czernoviczki.
