MOSCOW, July 30 (RIA Novosti)
Sweden midfielder Kim Kallstrom is to travel to Russia to sign for Spartak Moscow, the Russian Premier League side said Monday.
Kallstrom, of Olympique Lyonnais, had been due to undergo a medical with Spartak.
"Sweden midfielder Kim Kallstrom has successfully passed the medical examination today," Spartak said in a website statement.
"In the coming days, the 29 year old central midfielder will arrive in Moscow to sign a contract with Spartak and then immediately join the squad training."
Kallstrom has made 171 appearances for Lyon since joining the team in 2006, winning two French titles and a French Cup.
A Swedish international since 2001, Kallstrom has 95 caps and 16 goals for his country, which he has represented at three European championships and the 2006 World Cup.
Spartak snatched the Russian Premier League's second Champions League berth on a dramatic final day in May.
Ex-Valencia coach Unai Emery was named as the new Spartak coach soon afterwards and signed a two-year deal last month.
Spartak's next Premier League game will be against minnows FC Volga on Sunday.
