Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova of Russia beat American pair Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond in a highly-strung women’s doubles Olympic bronze medal match Sunday.
The American veterans started bright to win the first set before succumbing to a 6-4, 4-6, 1-6 defeat. The match lasted for more than two hours.
Serena and Venus Williams claimed their record fourth tennis golds in the Olympics in the women’s doubles final earlier on Sunday.
Maria Kirilenko lost in straight sets to World No.1 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus in their women’s singles bronze match on Saturday.
