A Russian synchronized swimmer who won double gold at the London Olympics is now keeping well clear of the pool, she told R-Sport on Tuesday.

Svetlana Romashina won her second and third career golds in London, one in the team competition and one partnering Natalia Ishchenko in the duet, after also winning team gold in Beijing in 2008.

“I haven’t even got the desire yet to stand on the side, even fully clothed,” Romashina said.

“I’ve got no thoughts yet about resuming training.”

Romashina said she was keen to take full advantage of her increase in fame after success at the Olympics.

“We've got a sort of peak right now when we’re being invited everywhere,” she said.

“In a couple of months everyone will forget about us. While we have the opportunity, we have to go where we’re invited.”

Moscow-born Romashina, 22, is an 11-time world champion and five-time European champion.

Russia has won every synchronized swimming Olympic gold since Sydney 2000 and won all seven available gold medals at last year’s world championships.
