Spartak Moscow must improve despite beating Fenerbahce to a spot in the Champions League group stage, the team's coach Unai Emery said Thursday.
Ten-man Spartak held on for a dramatic 1-1 draw against Fenerbahce in Istanbul on Wednesday, enough for a 3-2 aggregate win in the playoff tie.
The squad must not allow Thursday's Champions League draw to distract them from an upcoming Moscow derby, Emery suggested.
"But we must continue to work, and although we learn about our draw before our training at [Spartak's base] Tarasovka, we know that we have much to improve and on Sunday we have a very important derby against Lokomotiv."
Fitness could be an issue after Spartak's midweek match, Emery cautioned.
"The team are mentally strong and confident after a result like this, but there are many players that need to recover physically."
Emery, 40, left Valencia at the end of last season after two years in charge and was announced as Valery Karpin's successor as Spartak coach immediately after the end of last season, before signing a two-year contract in May.
Spartak are third in the Russian Premier League behind the reigning champions Zenit St. Petersburg and Terek Grozny, with four wins and two losses in six games.
Lokomotiv are seventh with three wins, two losses and a draw.
