Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova on Wednesday defeated France’s Marion Bartoli 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to reach the U.S. Open semifinals.
The match between Sharapova, the world No. 3, and eleventh seed Bartoli lasted two hours 32 minutes.
Sharapova will play top seed Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, who beat world No. 7 Australia’s Samantha Stosur 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5).
