MOSCOW, September 22 (RIA Novosti)
Three second-half goals gave Lokomotiv Moscow and coach Slaven Bilic a valuable 3-0 away win Saturday that ended Terek Grozny’s five-game winning streak.
Goals from Maxim Grigoryev, ex-West Ham United forward Victor Obinna and Maicon made the difference as Lokomotiv climbed to second in the table, two points behind leaders CSKA Moscow.
Terek are third, level on points with Lokomotiv.
"To come here and win 3-0 is definitely something good that can only be done by a good team," Bilic said in televised comments.
The first goal came on 62 minutes when Grigoryev was left with a simple finish after goalkeeper Yaroslav Godzyur parried Dmitry Tarasov’s header in his direction.
Lokomotiv grabbed their second and third goals late on as Terek pushed for an equalizer, Obinna scoring on the break on 83 minutes before Brazilian forward Maicon teamed up with Dmitry Torbinsky in a fast-paced move to score the third.
A cagey first-half yielded few clear-cut chances, while goalkeeper Dario Kresic resisted Terek pressure at times in the second, diving to save a shot by Ailton on 48 minutes.
Earlier Saturday, Zenit St. Petersburg drew 2-2 with Krylya Sovetov, CSKA beat FC Volga 3-2 and Dynamo Moscow defeated Amkar Perm by the same score.
On Friday, FC Krasnodar thrashed Mordovia Saransk 6-1 in the weekend’s opening fixture.
On Sunday, Spartak Moscow face FC Rostov and Rubin Kazan play FC Kuban, before Monday’s Caucasus derby between Alania Vladikavkaz and Anzhi ends the round of games.
