MOSCOW, October 5 (RIA Novosti)
Pavel Datsyuk's first two goals for his KHL team CSKA Moscow sealed a 2-1 road win over its fiercest local rival Spartak.
The Detroit Red Wings forward scored midway through the second period after stealing the puck from Spartak captain Branko Radivojevich.
Former Philadelphia Flyers right wing Stefan Ruzicka equalized in the third period after an impressive solo drive. That sent the the game into overtime, when Datsyuk hit the winner off a rebound.
The 34 year old has notched up six points after five games since signing a lockout deal last month.
Thursday's victory moved CSKA to third place in the Western Conference, while Spartak languishes in 12th.
Meanwhile, Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod gained its first away success of the season at Dynamo Minsk.
Artem Chernov sealed a 3-0 thrashing in the third period, scoring from behind the goal by deflecting off NHL goaltender Pekka Rinne. That came after Scandinavians Robert Nilsson and Juuso Hietanen gave Torpedo a 2-0 cushion early on.
Dynamo's recent lockout signing Evander Kane of the Winnipeg Jets had a largely forgettable night, earning a 12-minute penalty for slashing.
The team from Belarus continues to suffer the leakiest defense in the Western Conference despite signing Rinne of the Nashville Predators, who has conceded seven goals in three games.
Torpedo broke a three-game losing streak and climbed to ninth position in the West, with Dynamo following in 10th.
