Haas Upsets Almagro in Shanghai

MOSCOW, October 8 (RIA Novosti)

German veteran Tommy Haas became the first unseeded player to oust a seed at this year’s Shanghai Masters on Monday, knocking out Nicolas Almagro in the first round.

Haas, 34, came back from a set down to beat ninth seed Almagro 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-2.

Earlier, 10th seed Marin Cilic and 11th seed Richard Gasquet both booked their places in the second round with wins.
