Fabio Capello vowed Friday to do all he can to stop his Russia players resting on their laurels after beating Portugal 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier.
Alexander Kerzhakov's early goal gave Russia the win in Moscow, but Capello said the focus now had to be on their upcoming game against Azerbaijan.
"Now the one thing that we have to do is to immediately forget about this victory and start thinking about the next match," he said.
"We certainly played a very good game, but the main thing for us is the game against Azerbaijan."
With Russia on a three-game winning streak under Capello that has seen nine goals scored and none conceded, complacency must not be allowed to creep in against a supposedly weaker side such as Azerbaijan, Capello said.
"I know very well that that can happen in football," he said. "I'm doing everything in my power to stop that happening, and that will start at the dinner in the hotel this evening."
Russia lead Group F by three points from Portugal after three games, and host Azerbaijan in Moscow on Tuesday.
