Igor Akinfeev on Tuesday set an all-time record for a Russia or Soviet Union national team goalkeeper of playing 707 consecutive minutes without conceding a goal.

The CSKA stopper broke the record of Zenit St. Petersburg's Vyacheslav Malafeev, who retired from international duty after Euro 2012. Malafeev set the record of 653 minutes in May.

Akinfeev, 26, went through that mark in the 36th minute of his country's World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan on Tuesday, which ended 1-0 to the the Russians.

The run of clean sheets has lasted seven games, starting in August 2011 with a 1-0 win over Serbia.

Akinfeev has played 57 matches for Russia, during which time he has been scored against 44 times.
