Rubin Kazan center back Cesar Navas has been suspended for seven Russian Premier League matches for breaking the jaw of an opponent in the team's shock 1-0 defeat to Amkar Perm on Sunday.
The Spaniard appeared to kick Amkar's Martin Jakubko in the face when the Slovakian striker was on the ground following a corner.
"For deliberately injuring Amkar Perm player Martin Jakubko, Rubin Kazan player Cesar Navas is disqualified for seven matches," the Russian FA said in a website statement.
The kick, which Navas claimed was accidental, left former Slovak international Jakubko needing four screws to rebuild his jaw.
Navas subsequently apologized.
Navas, who has 103 league appearances for the club from Tatarstan, will not be eligible to play until Rubin's last two games before the winter break.
Rubin are seventh in the league
