MOSCOW, October 18 (RIA Novosti)
Poland's Jerzy Janowicz reached the quarterfinals of the Kremlin Cup on Thursday by upsetting seventh seed Carlos Berlocq in the second round.
World No. 74 Janowicz made up 22 ranking places to upset Berlocq 6-3, 6-4 and book a quarterfinal with either fourth seed Thomaz Bellucci or Italy's Fabio Cipolla.
For Janowicz, whose current ranking is a career high, this marks the third tournament in a row he has reached the quarterfinals, although he lost at that stage in Szczecin and Mons within the last month.

News that Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin would resign in order to run for the mayoral election in September came as quite a shock. Sobyanin’s political potential is fairly dubious, not to mention his approval ratings. He has not finished many of the projects he initiated and the electoral effect from these projects is expected to come a bit later than September 2013. Sobyanin’s opponents were not entirely unprepared for this blitzkrieg.
