Traktor Chelyabinsk came back from 4-1 down to beat Spartak Moscow 5-4 after penalty shots Sunday and strengthen its lead at the top of the KHL's Eastern Conference.
Torpedo and Spartak went into the third period at 1-1 after Andrei Popov's second-period strike for Torpedo canceled out Mikhail Yunkov's opener, scored a minute into the match.
A six-goal third period first saw Spartak surge into a 4-1 lead with a goal from Denis Bodrov and two from Oleg Gubin before Torpedo's comeback started with 11 minutes on the clock.
Evgeny Kuznetsov made it 4-2 before Alexander Suglobov further reduced the deficit, and Stanislav Chistov sent the match to overtime with a strike 32 seconds from the final horn.
After scoreless overtime, Anton Glinkin decided the match for Torpedo with the fifth penalty shot when he gave his team a 2-0 lead.
Spartak is 12th in the Western Conference, four points adrift of the playoff spots.
