Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder Dmitry Torbinsky is out for the rest of the year with a thigh injury, the Russian Premier League side said Thursday.
The 28 year old picked up the injury in Lokomotiv’s 0-0 draw at FC Rostov on Sunday and will travel to Munich next week to undergo surgery, the club said.
Torbinsky had only played 12 minutes after coming on as a second half substitute when he was carried off after a challenge from Rostov defender Inal Getigezhev.
“Torbinsky ... has been diagnosed with a right thigh adductor lesion,” the club said on its website. He will miss all eight league games before the winter break December 15.
The player has fallen out of the team’s starting squad under Slaven Bilic, making six appearances this season and just two starts.
Torbinsky has 26 Russia caps and won the bronze medal at Euro 2008.
Fifth-placed Lokomotiv host Amkar Perm on Friday.
